How to Use PHAZE: Create Stunning Color-Changing Art!

Ready to add some magic to your art with PHAZE, our brand new color-changing paint? This guide will show you how to use it, with some handy tips to get the best results. Let’s get started and watch your creations transform!

What is PHAZE?

PHAZE is a unique color-changing pigment that shifts from Purple Haze to the Pinkest Pink when the temperature changes. It’s perfect for adding a dynamic touch to your artwork.

What’s in the Box?

  • Instruction Card: Important safety and usage info—please read it!
  • Super Base: An acrylic medium designed to hold more pigment than any other.
  • PHAZE Pigment Mix: A special blend that changes color with temperature.

Important Tips:

  • Mixing Ratio: The ideal ratio is 1 part pigment to 9 parts Super Base.
  • Prepare Your Surface: Seal porous surfaces with watered-down PVA glue or gesso for the best results.

Getting Started

  1. Gather Your Materials: You’ll need the PHAZE pigment, Super Base, a spoon, a mixing container, and a soft brush.
  2. Prepare Your Workspace: Lay down some newspaper or a drop cloth to catch any spills.

Mixing PHAZE

  1. Measure the Pigment:
    • Use a spoon to measure out 1 part PHAZE pigment.
  2. Add Water:
    • Add a tiny bit of water to the pigment and mix well to create a smooth paste.
  3. Mix with Super Base:
    • Measure out 9 parts Super Base.
    • Mix the pigment paste into the Super Base until you have a smooth, even paint.

Applying PHAZE

  1. Coat Your Surface:

    • Use a soft brush to apply a thin, even coat of PHAZE paint to your object. Avoid using too much paint at once.
    • Let it dry completely. You may need 2-3 coats for full coverage.
  2. Dry Time:

    • Let each coat dry before applying another. This ensures an even, smooth finish.

Watch the Magic Happen

PHAZE changes color at 28°C. Here’s a quick way to see the effect:

  1. Cool Down: Chill your painted object in the fridge to see the Purple Haze.
  2. Heat Up: Use a hair dryer to gently warm the object and watch it transform to the Pinkest Pink.

  • Ping Pong Balls: Perfect for a quick, colorful transformation.
  • Guitars: Create a dynamic instrument that changes color with the heat of your hands.
